Welcome To The Ultimate War Ranger Guide!

War Rangers are Dwarves (Rogue) who can be selected after finishing the Class Transfer quest at lvl 31. They specialize in Bows and wear Light Armor. Compared to the other 3 Archer classes (Hawkeye, Silver Ranger, and Phantom Ranger), War Rangers have the highest survivability and are adept in trapping enemies to disable and control their movements. They are the most versatile archer class to use in PvE battles, as they are both evasive and tanky.

What makes a War Ranger a great character to use in Dungeons is their multiple Crowd Control and AoE attacks (Power Shot, Double Shot, and Burst Shot).  As Archers, War Rangers can attack long range and are able to draw and aggravate enemies from afar, while your team stands within melee striking distance of a target in auto-attack mode. This strategic positioning increases your team’s survivability, by maintaining a single position as a group. Additionally, War Rangers have an escape mechanism which allow them to move backwards for 3 meters to avoid enemy traps and ambushes (Evasion Shot).

Even though they are Rogues who are naturally squishy, War Rangers have a unique playstyle that allows them to tank a fair amount of monster damage. They are comparable to Dark Elf Warrior classes in terms of survivability. Oftentimes, they are the last character to die in a massive group PvE battle.

However, 1v1 Arena will be a challenge because you will usually lose to a player with equal footing as your character. In Arena, it could be easy to kill Rogue and Offensive Mystic classes, while tank classes like Paladin, Guardian, Shillien Knight, and Temple Knight will be very hard to kill within the time constraint. In order to gain a higher advantage, you should have your Missile Bolt and Meteor Shower upgraded to catch up with the damage requirements.

Overall, War Rangers are a gem in PvE / Leveling quests since tankiness is their strong characteristic despite their lower attack power. Also due to this, they can survive for a long time in group PvP battles like Sieges, where you don’t have to worry much about enemy attacking from behind. Although not a highly popular class in Open Siege, since most players prefer DPS archers like Hawkeyes, War Rangers are viable as utility units in Fortress Sieges, by utilizing multiple AoE and Disabling skills.

If you want to enjoy playing as an Archer and be tanky with good CC skills, then War Ranger is the right character for you!

Character Review

Pros:

  • Fast moving long-range attackers that can quickly get in and out of fights
  • Multiple AoE skills that makes War Ranger suited for group fights (Double Shot, Burst Shot, Evasion Shot)
  • High survivability for a Rogue class
  • Boasts one of the highest Evasions in the game and highest HP out of all the Archers
  • Can survive for a very long time in mass PvP fights like Sieges
  • One of the best characters to use in PvE quests and levelin

Cons:

  • Lacks any strong single-target skills and burst damage from the Class Advancement
  • Unpopular in end-game since her damage doesn’t scale well to CP
  • Lowest DPS among the Archer classes
  • Very high mana cost while grinding (3 Active skills), but saves a lot of HP potions due to high evasion rate
  • Lacks party buffs that help improve your party’s DPS

Skill Priority and Usage

Be sure to obtain Level 1 on all your skills before following the prioritization (specifically Acrobatics, Lucky Quick Step and Guidance). The first priority is to Max Rogue Weapon Mastery (Passive) since it will be the main source of your bulk of damage. Next, focus on your active skills, Burst Shot and Evasion Shot because they add up a significant increase in damage per level. Then, add skill points to Power Shot (PvP focus) or Double Shot (PvE focus) up to level 10. After that, you can move to the next priority Lucky Quick Step and skills that add up % increments on evasion which are Light Armor Mastery and Acrobatics. The Excess skill points will go to Guidance.

Specific Skills Usage

  • Acrobatics & Lucky Quick Step are both excellent Passive skills to add as they both add relevant stats for your survival
  • Prioritize Rogue Weapon Mastery for added damage, Light Armor Mastery for additional points in evasion.
  • As much as possible, add Defense and Evasion substats to bolster your defensive prowess.
  • In Arena, Power Shot is important to add a Crowd Control while In PvE, Double Shot is necessary to add a multiple target damage.

Other Useful Class Tips

  • Kiting is crucial during fights. Take advantage of your good evasion and movement speed.
  • With proper skill utilization, you can always disable the enemies to maximize your burst damage. Use the quick cooldown of Power Shot and time your Burst Shot and Rare Skill casting.
  • Focus on staying at the edges of fights in PvP and whittle the enemy down
  • Black Ore and Nassen Accessories are recommended sets for War Ranger. Nassen accessory set allows you to move extremely fast allowing you to kite enemies. This amplifies your mobility in PvE and PvP battles that directly affects speed in leveling, manual evasion and positioning. On the other hand, the Black Ore accessory set allows you to be extremely tanky, leaving you worry-free in Elite Dungeon and Boss Battles.
  • For Rare Skills, use Missile Bolt and Meteor Shower in Arena PvP. In Sieges, you can go defensive with Healing Strike/Absolute Shield and Defense Zone or go offensive with Missile Bolt and Meteor Shower.
  • In PvP Siege:
    • Go to a vantage position > Power Shot solo attackers + Missile Bolt > Burst Shot group/clustered opponents + Meteor Shower > When ambushed, trapped or if you want to add attack range, use Evasion Shot
  • In PvP Arena
    • Kite and manually evade enemy attacks (especially Rare skills) > Power Shot > [IMMEDIATELY] Missile Bolt and Meteor Shower > Burst Shot > Evasion Shot > Normal attacks > Power Shot > Normal attacks

This is the only information I’ve found thus far looking for War Ranger tips, builds etc which value. Other places either asking questions or people talking down about this class and how weak they are. Thank you for the information.
