7 Pro Tips on Leveling Fast and Gaining Exp While Solo Farming the Elite Dungeon
October 13, 2019

In L2R, leveling up is key to building a successful account/character. And whether or not you’re on your first build or your fifth learning how to maximize your time and build in the fastest way is a skill that any player can appreciate.

One of the top contributors to experience is solo farming in the Elite Dungeon during Hot Time (Bonus Time). Elite Dungeon consists of monsters having significantly higher stats than field monsters of the same level but they are crucial for character strengthening such as acquiring Soul Crystals, Attribute/Limit Break Fragments, Scraps for UR upgrade and more.

The Elite Dungeon is even more valuable when Hot Time is active, in which you will be able to earn 8x experience and 4x item drop rate boost during the duration. Since this is only activated for a limited time on a daily basis, you should know how to maximize and make use of the given time.

Level boosters make use of this opportunity to get ahead of the competition. As we said in our Fast Leveling Tips article, there are numerous advantages why fast leveling is important, especially if you want to progress fast. One of these is access to higher grade rewards in equipment, cores, resources, talisman, and more.

A Quick Point: Why Solo Farming Is Better Than Party Farming

If you can efficiently kill monsters by yourself, it is strongly advised to go solo during HT. Due to the fact that for each monster killed, Solo farming gives the whole amount of experience to yourself. Party farming, on the other hand, shares the experience to all party members thus receiving less for yourself.

Important: You can still join a party inside the Elite dungeon to gain passive buffs and additional CP but make sure to keep your distance away from them (approx. ~30m) while doing HT to avoid sharing of experience.

An Example: How To Elite Dungeon Farming

Pro Tip # 1: Equip the Right Gear

PlayL2R Solo HT guide

Elite Sets are most convenient because all monsters in the Elite Dungeon are “Elite” Grade. Meaning if you have an elite weapon, you will hit with bonus damage on any monsters due to attribute advantage. It is strongly advised not to use a PvP set because of low augmentation.

However, some monsters are Magical or Dragon-Type, which adds benefit if you use Magical/Dragon set. Do take note that these two are Rare sets, meaning they’re more easily accessible to P2P players and hard to build if you are F2P. If you have an extra resource to spend on it, then go 🙂

Another important reminder, equip Blood Ranger’s Cloak to get a fixed chance of acquiring Scraps of Blood (for each scrap of blood, it can be opened and give you UR material scraps, Proofs of Blood or Red Starstones). Also take note that you can only get it from Evil of Blood monsters which are indicated on top of the monster’s name, and you can only acquire up to 2,000 scraps of blood daily. The condition to get these scraps is that monsters should be at least 7 levels lower than your character.

Pro Tip # 2: Farm on Elite Monsters Within 5 Levels of Your Character

Comparison:

Condition Character Level Monster Level Experience
Within 5 levels 268 268 3200
Lower than 5 levels 268 262 1920
Higher than 5 levels 268 282 3312

Therefore, farming within 5 levels is the optimal condition.

Lower than 5 levels: experience per monster exponentially drop.

Higher than 5 levels, monsters give little increase in experience.

Pro Tip # 3: Adjust Battle Settings as Needed

Here are my character battle settings. Of course, this may depend on what type of role or class you play but your settings should also play around these values. It is very important to cast your offensive skills manually to avoid using them only on 1 monster during the attack.

  • Auto-Battle Distance Settings= 0-10m
  • Auto-Skill Settings= Healing skill is auto, offensive skills are manual
  • Normal Attack Range: On= Displays Normal Attack Range
  • Auto HP Potion Value= usually 50% – 70%. A Lower percentage means efficient pot consumption
  • Auto MP Potion Value= usually 30% – 50%. A Lower percentage means efficient pot consumption
  • Auto Healing HP value= above 50%. Usually 60 – 70%. More economical to use healing skill before HP potions.

Pro Tip # 4: Activate Soulshots

One of the situations where you need to activate soulshots is during your Hot Time bonus. It is a must since you need to kill monsters fast to maximize the experience gain. Now, don’t just use them on hitting one monster because that would be wasting charges, instead lure monsters and attack them all at once 🙂 In that way, you can save a lot of soulshots.

Pro Tip # 5: Use Clan Buff and Personal Buff

Use your character’s maximum potential. It is best to activate at once but in case you have limited clan coins, prioritize offensive over defensive buff (Atk > Crit.Dmg > Crit.Rate > Accu = Spd > HP = DEF = Eva > MP).

Also, use your buff scrolls for added damage output. This is quite a scarce resource because you can only get it from Temporal Rift drops. Our tip is to accumulate 10 and use it (effect duration will accumulate if more than one is used).

Pro Tip # 6: The Art of Luring Monsters

Note that elite monsters are naturally aggressive, meaning they will attack your character when you stand near them. However, their level of aggression depends on the level gap. If monsters are of the same or above your character level, you can just stand a few meters from them and they will automatically attack you. On the other hand, if your character is way above the monster’s level, they will only attack if you stand very close to them (0m).

Elite monsters significantly lower than your level does not aggro you even if you stand near them. Of course, unless you stand extremely close (0m) or attacked. Here’s an example below:

Monsters a few levels behind cannot get aggroed easily.

Monsters of the same level can easily get aggroed by standing near them (0-1m)

Monsters way above a character’s level easily gets aggroed even at longer distances (2m)

How to lure and attack monsters during solo HT:

  1. Since solo HT entails killing elite monsters within 5 levels of your character, you need to activate auto attack to grab their attention easily.
  2. If you will follow my settings, your character will hit monsters nearby and not use skills. Lure 4 or more monsters depending on how much can you handle.
  3. Lure in a roundabout manner and don’t go too far (30m+) else the monster will go back to their original position and lose their aggro.
  4. Take a few cheap shots to not lose their aggro and let them continue chasing you.
  5. Once you have successfully lured and accumulated 4+ monsters, unleash your skills to kill them fast.
  6. There are times when a combo skill is not sufficient, so you must use a few normal attacks to finish them off. This shows the importance of displaying your normal attack range to make sure you are hitting all the remaining monsters.

Pro Tip # 7: Ht Management During Boss Engagement

Killing a boss gives you a ton of experience, however, it takes too much time to kill them. One strategy is to stop your HT during the engagement and turn it back on when the boss HP is low. This is a good time management to further maximize the experience gained.

Turning the HT timer “OFF” at the time of engagement

Turning it back “ON” moments before killing the boss. You can see the huge amount of experience gained!

TL;DR? Here’s a Quick Summary

Here are the important pointers before you start farming the Elite Dungeon:

Gear

  • Elite Sets are most convenient to use because all monsters in the Elite Dungeon are “Elite” Grade. Meaning if you have an elite weapon, you will hit with bonus damage on any monsters due to attribute advantage. It is strongly advised not to use a PvP set because of low augmentation.
  • Some monsters are Magical or Dragon-Type, which adds benefit if you use Magical/Dragon set.
  • Equip Blood Ranger’s Cloak to get a fixed chance of acquiring Scraps of Blood (for each scrap of blood, it can be opened and give you UR material scraps, proof of blood or Red Starstone).
    1. Take note that you can only get it from Evil of Blood monsters.
    2. You can acquire up to 2,000 Scraps of blood daily.
    3. Monsters should be at least 7 levels lower than your character.

Buff / Consumables

  • Activate your Soulshots! It is a must since you need to kill monsters fast to maximize experience gained.
  • Use your elite buff scrolls for added damage output. Now, this is quite a scarce resource because you can only get it from Temporal Rift drops. Our tip is to accumulate 10 of it because using effect duration will accumulate if more than one is used.
  • Regular HP/MP potion should be enough to sustain your character.
  • Use Clan Buff. It is best to activate all at once but in case you have limited clan coins, prioritize offensive over defensive buffs (Atk > Crit.Dmg > Crit.Rate > Accu = Spd > HP = DEF = Eva > MP).

Battle Settings

  • Auto-Battle Distance Settings = 0-10m.
  • Auto-Skill Settings= Healing skill is auto, offensive skills are manual.
  • Normal Attack Range: On= Displays Normal Attack Range.
  • Auto HP Potion Value= usually 50% – 70%. A lower percentage means efficient pot consumption.
  • Auto MP Potion Value= usually 30% – 50%. A lower percentage means efficient pot consumption.
  • Auto Healing HP value= above 50%. Usually 60 – 70%. More economical to use healing skill before HP potions.

During battle:

  • Farm on Elite monsters within 5 levels of your character.
  • Properly lure and attack monsters during solo HT. Activate auto normal attack and lure in a roundabout manner. Don’t go too far (30m+) to keep their aggro. Now unleash your skills after you’ve accumulated 4 or more monsters attacking you.
  • For cleanup of monsters after using skills: To maximize time, make sure that you are hitting all the remaining monsters as displayed on your normal attack range. Do not waste hitting them one at a time.
  • Bosses give tons of experience but are harder to kill. Manually stop your HT timer during boss engagement and turn it back on when the boss HP is already low.

    I thought it was +-4 not +-5

+4 is the optimum and in +5 there is a noticeable decrease in exp but acceptable range. There are times where jumping to the next level of monster gets hard so you need to stay in the 5 level range.
