Welcome To The Ultimate Paladin Guide!

Paladins are Humans (Warriors) who can be selected after finishing the Class Transfer quest at lvl 31. They specialize in Sword and Shield, and wear Heavy Armor. They are considered the tank of the Human race, and are one of the best support characters for parties, due to their ability to taunt enemies and also reflect a portion of damage dealt.

Paladins have high HP and DEF while still being able to deal a lot of ATTACK damage to enemies. This character is popular and highly sought-after in parties/clans because of their ability to tank. Their disable ability lasts for 8 seconds against monsters, and 4 seconds against enemy players, which makes them a versatile character for either PvE or PvP. Whether you’re in the Elite Dungeons or Field Farming, or playing Siege, Paladins are a great addition to parties who want to be able to disable their opponents and take them down while they are weakened.

The Paladin’s stats are very balanced with good ATK and DEF. Their skills are used primarily in Crowd Control situations, which makes them very effective in dungeons. Thanks to their innate Crit Resist ability as Humans, and the damage reduction they receive from wearing Heavy Armor, Paladins are self-sufficient and are able to take a lot of damage, even against monsters past their level. They also are able to resist enemy combos, especially against other Warrior and Mystic classes.

This is the character for you if you enjoy supporting parties and tanking through most PvE or PvP scenarios.

Character Review

  • Considered to be one of the best Human classes, alongside Bishop.
  • Great survivability. Easy to AFK farm and complete the storyline.
  • Great tanking and damage capabilities.
  • Top choice in Dungeons thanks to crowd control, defense buffs, and aggro.
  • Group-favored class. Works better with a team than solo.
  • Used as the main target / bait during boss raids thanks to being able to aggro the boss, allowing squishier teammates to focus on taking the boss down.
  • Never expect yourself to be the top damage contributors, but you’ll be the MVP in 3v3 and Group PvP Clash via assists.
  • Often avoided in Arena due to Silence skill, making them very hard to kill, assuming equal CP.
  • Paladins can survive in Tower of Insolence levels where the recommended CP is 100,000 more than their current one. Just be aware of finishing within the time limit.
  • One of the highest DEF with Active and Passive skills offering Def buffs (Parry Mastery, Defense Aura, and Majesty)
  • Shines more in a party to help secure your allies in a good position. Also good in 1v1 PvP but it takes quite more time to level up and finish solo content.

  • Slow farming speed due to lack of mobility and damage focus abilities.
  • Low burst damage. Not suitable looking for damage-hungry players.
  • Warlords will usually beat Paladins in a 1v1 fight assuming the same quality of equipment and stats.
  • Takes a very long time to kill monsters solo in Elite Dungeon, requires a good party to do well there

Specific Skills Usage

  • Righteous Fury is only good for PvE. Shouldn’t be a priority to skill-up if you want to focus on PvP content.
  • Vengeance is an excellent skill for PvP.
  • Passives are the reason why a Paladin can be tanky, so you need to prioritize those that increases stats (Parry Mastery, Defense Aura). Always max them out first before allocating the excess skill points to Active skills.

*Note: If you are aiming to level fast, prioritize Bonus Exp. Gain substat above all else, then follow the priority list above.

Other Useful Class Tips

  • With most in-game Dungeons having timers, having the right mix of survivability & damage is important.
    • Too little damage and you won’t be able to clear a dungeon within the time limit
    • Too little tankiness and you’ll die quickly
    • Thus, stat prioritization is important. Based on the situation above, aim for tankiness or damage boosts like Elixirs, Weapon Enhancements, and substats
  • Majesty returns incoming enemy damage, which is perfect against Rogue classes who deal high damage, but have low HP. You can use this skill to your advantage in PvP scenarios such as Arena or group PvP such as Siege.
  • The Slam and Vengeance skills are great to use in PvP, as it taunts enemies, and prevents them from using their skills.
  • Righteous Fury is beneficial in PvE and least priority for PvP, as it adds additional damage against monsters.

Ability Disable only lasts 4 seconds, not 8 seconds.
That's basically as long as other classes can stun, which means it's worse than a stun.

What are the best ways to get your defensive stats up?

Your armors provide massive increase in P.Def and M.Def. As a start make sure they are all +11 in enhancement levels. Also, make sure the subs have P.Def and M.Def, they are essential for Warrior classes. 🙂 To reduce damage, add resilience and equip a Black Ore set.

I’ve seen some high level players on other servers (youtube) using the original active skills over the ones you get when you choose your class. Energy Blast, Power Strike, Rush Impact….any chance y’all review these and see their benefits to pve/pvp?

Energy Blast is used in PvE for farming overnight (or AFK mode). It has less Mana consumption thus saving resources. Meanwhile, Rush Impact is used in PvP as a replacement for Majesty (More DPS + knockdown skill). Don’t mind about the Power Strike since Rush impact is a superior Crowd Control skill with more damage 🙂

So the perfect AFK build would be? (just skills)

And arena pvp build would be: rush, slam, vengeance, meteor, missile bolt?

Pit pvp build: same as above…but depending maybe sub heal strike/absolute shield for meteor due to its long regen time?

AFK build – Energy Blast / Slam / none / Healing Strike / Absolute Shield

Arena build – Rush Impact / Slam / Vengeance / Meteor Shower or Healing Strike / Missile Bolt

Group PvP – Majesty / Slam / Vengeance / (Offensive) Missile Bolt and Meteor Shower, (Defensive) Healing Strike and Absolute Shield. Defense Zone in Siege

Can you breakdown a bit more the difference in PVP between Majesty vs Rush Impact?
Some Paladins swear by Majesty, while others swear by Rush Impact.
In an ideal world I would have both skill maxed and switch between them but unrealistic at this point.
So I am wondering which I should max in an ideal PVP setting.
    Thanks! Great guide!

Hi Ken! You can leave Rush Impact at level 10 and prioritize Majesty. Overall, Majesty is more valuable in group PvP while Rush Impact is used in 1v1 like Arena. Rush Impact is an added knockdown skill which reassures crowd control and easier release of combos plus an added burst damage unlike Majesty. Majesty on the other hand would give more value for the team because of the defense buff and return damage. Cheers!

Only issue I see with Rush Impact (which is what I run at the moment) is the diminishing returns of stuns(crowd control). I can’t be positive because I haven’t fully tested it but it seems that after 2x crowd control skills there’s an amount of time before that target can be crowd controlled again. My current skill setup being: Rush Impact -> Vengeance -> Slam -> Missle Bolt -> Meteor Strike it seems to me that after Rush Impact and Vengeance the Slam never knocks down the target.

What are the optimal substats for all red rare equipment? Weapon, Helmet, Chest, Boots, Gloves for the Pally.

I’ve heard ignor def dmg is the best but what else?

What does “retain combo duration” provided by Arbol accessories mean?

Hi there.. first of all thank you for this great awesome guide…
It really help me to understand the game…
Btw, i wanna ask about the substat for paladin… in your guide there is 3 substat that we should have, like for example in weapon for paladin , we should have Critical Damage / Attack Speed / Critical Rate or P. Atk.
When we reset the substat, should we have those 3 substat that you recommend ?? what if we just have 2 of those 3 substat when we reset the substat or what if we have only 1 substat instead of 3 that you recommend??

    • DK
      October 16, 2018 at 5:57 am

Hi Alex! I usually keep it when I roll 2 out of 3 from the recommended substats. Rolling for 3 ideal substats require a lot of diamonds (sometimes more than 3000 red diamonds if unlucky) and I’d rather use those diamonds for reset on subscrolls, temporal rifts and dungeons. 🙂

Is the dominus set the best even if you want to focus on pve tanking? Or do I need to have a leveled up set for every situation?

    • DK
      December 2, 2018 at 8:01 am

It is for every situation. For PvE tanking, the most economical and convenient is the Elite set since the bonus applies to all monsters in the Elite dungeon and it is the easiest to upgrade to UR meaning you can easily boost its stats. Red (Magical/Draconic) is the best PvE set but only applies to certain types of monsters and harder to upgrade. Dominus have the highest base stats and best for PvP but the attribute bonus won’t help you in PvE.
