Welcome, Silverlight Mercenaries, to the Ultimate L2R Cloak Guide!
In this article, we will explore the full benefits and uses of cloaks, from the basics through leveling and breakdown of each cloak material. By the time you finish reading this article, you’ll know what cloak to prioritize, based on your playstyle. Ideally, plan to obtain all cloaks for maximum stats – but getting all of them to max level is very tedious. Prioritize a single cloak which will greatly affects your progression at present. We’ll ease the confusion of cloak choices as you are leveling by guiding you up to character actualization for specific uses like clan wars. Are you ready to discern which is best fit for you? Let’s get started!
First, if you are unaware of how cloaks work in this game, let’s start with a brief introduction so you understand why it matters. If you’re fully versed in cloak functionality in Lineage 2 Revolution (equip effect, substats, level up and upgrade), you can skip the intro and head straight to the cloak stats and selection guide.

What is a Cloak?
In L2R, a Cloak is an equippable item attainable after reaching character level 75, regardless of class selected. It has the capability to add a significant amount of CP from stats, but also imbues a special effect, depending on the type of cloak equipped. L2R Cloaks can be leveled up using Threads (including Yarns) acquired from clearing the Temporal Rift. Leveling up a cloak also increases your substats and equip effect. All cloaks max out at level 30.
How Can You Acquire Cloaks?
Cloaks can be obtained by meeting a preset criteria and the conditions. Method of acquisition for them varies depending on the type of cloak desired. For any Cloak, a specific brooch must be acquired. For example, upon reaching level 75, all players can complete the cloak tutorial to obtain a brooch for an Adventurer’s Cloak. Other cloaks, like the Cloak of Red Destruction, require party dungeon runs to obtain the brooch. Some cloaks can only be obtained from shop purchases. See below for reference:

Choosing The Best Cloak For You
With scarce resources of Cloak level-up materials, it is best to prioritize 1 or 2 cloaks at a time that immediately impact the user’s goal and progression. Let’s break down the advantages of each cloak first.
|Adventurer's Cloak||- High experience gain in Field and Extraction Dungeon. Good pair with Einhasad's blessing.
- Can also be used in codex farming located in the field. Gain a huge chunk of exp while killing monsters within 5 levels range.
- Perfect for beginners to catch up and boost character levels.
- Free item and a good investment. Just finish the cloak tutorial quest upon reaching level 75.
|Blood Ranger's Cloak||- A great alternative source of Red Star Stones, Proof of Bloods, and Scraps.
- For a drop limit of 2000 blood scraps per day, it will contain at least 300 RSS on a bad day (400 to 500 if you are lucky). It is commonly prioritized by competitive gamers who are active in clans to help them with clan donation requirements.
- Highly favors mid-end game players who farm and stack clan resources by farming in the Elite Dungeon.
|Garden Cloak||- Has 4 substats which convert to a higher CP increase compared to Adventurer's Cloak and Blood Ranger's Cloak (3 substats).
- Rewards you with bonus garden gifts on a fixed chance (need to be high level to maximize drop rate from a limit of 20 extractions a day).
|Hero's Cloak||- Arguably the best PvP cloak which is a must have for competitive players. Refresh chance and interval rate increases per level.
- Highly favorable item for end-game and high ranking players.
|Cloak of Red Destruction||- 5 Substat addition to increase significant damage/survivability.
- Good for players who usually farms AFK, it creates a defensive spell to protect the user in case healing potions and heal skills are on cooldown
|Cloak of Virtuous Blood||- End-game item which is favorable to use in PvP especially in defensive situations.|
|Hagios' Cloak||A good offensive cloak which can be used in all areas of the game (Mostly for PvE flash clearing and Clan Wars).|
|Resolution Cloak||There are no equip effect bonuses in clan cloaks but they give additional 3 substats|
|Dissonance Cloak||There are no equip effect bonuses in clan cloaks but they give additional 4 substats|
|Revolution Cloak||There are no equip effect bonuses in clan cloaks but they give additional 5 substats|
Knowing the equip effect and their effectiveness per level, here are some of our suggestions for different playstyle/types:
|Type||Adventurer's||Blood Ranger's||Garden||Hero's||Red Destruction||Virtuous Blood||Hagios'|

*Try to acquire all cloaks at level 1 before following the prioritization
*Clan cloaks are excluded in the prioritization, upgrade them when you have the resources
